Agency’s 3rd Annual Bush craft Event to be held in July.
Regional Foster Families has for some years now organised this event where children and young people can escape the normal daily life and experience survival, albeit for a limited period of time, in the wide open spaces, fresh air and the unpredictability of our weather.
Full risk assessment is carried out prior to the event and training in building a bivouac, lighting a camp fire and cooking give a brief experience of surviving in the back woods.
It is also a wonderful opportunity to meet others and experience new challenges which we hope will build confidence in trying out new ventures throughout their lives. There seems to be no shortage of volunteers for this event especially from the grownups but when they find out what’s involved the comfort of their home seems all the more appealing.
More on the event in coming weeks
