Joining Regional Foster Families as a Supervising Social Worker in East Anglia
I wanted to share my experience of being a new starter in my role as Supervising Social Worker in the East Anglia Region. I joined Regional Foster Families in December 2019 and was met with such a warm welcome from all my new team, I felt RFF wanted me and had prepared all the things I would need to settle in. I had support to take handovers and meet foster families and a well-planned induction program, as well as a tasty Christmas dinner!!
The thing that has stuck with me most is the genuine feel I am part of a fostering family in the bigger sense.
I have now taken over fully in supervising the foster families I am responsible for supporting and am finding all the foster families unique, authentic and hugely committed to the children they care for.
I think we are a really well managed team, our Regional Manager gets things sorted and is always available, our fabulous admin are just so efficient, approachable and friendly and my Supervising Social Work colleagues are so welcoming and supportive I could not have asked for a better start.
I really feel as a Fostering Agency we work hard to make our foster families feel supported and valued and if my own new starter experience is a good measure of how well RFF do this then I hope anyone thinking about fostering with us in East Anglia would get the same feeling. 😊
