Meet our Student Social Worker in Bristol (and surrounding areas)
Michelle joins us from UWE (University of the West of England) to fulfil her 100 day work placement as per of her social work degree.
I am currently in my final year of studying a BSc Hons in Social Work at the University of the West of England in Bristol. I have a lot of experience of working with the elderly and supporting adults with mental health and learning disabilities to live independently within the community.
My placement for university last year was working with children and families at an early help level. That placement ignited a real passion for working with children and young people and the adults who care for them.
My first 2 weeks with Regional Foster Families have been fantastic! The entire team have been very friendly, welcoming and supportive. Attending the skills to foster training enabled me to meet with not only established foster carers and children but also prospective foster carers – this was a real privilege and really gave me an in depth understanding of everyone’s role within the process. I look forward to meeting some more of you very soon!!
At home I am mum to a very lively 5 year old and a very lazy cat called Poppy.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and our little one. I am also part of a CrossFit family which is a real passion and not many people know that I once did a fire walk for charity – which shows how I’m not afraid to tackle challenges head on!
Michelle will be working along side our Senior Practitioner; Louisa, so she is in very good hands with an excellent mentor.
