New Fostering Social Worker in Somerset
We are really pleased to have added Cate to our Fostering Social Worker team.
I’ve just started in my role as supervising social worker in the Somerset region and thought it might be helpful to give a brief summary of my work experience and a bit about me as a person.
I moved to Devon in 1990 to do my social work training at Exeter University and I’ve lived here for most of the time since then.
I live just outside of Exeter with my partner, dog, cat, ducks, chickens and geese. When I’m not social working, I’m looking after them, trying to keep back the brambles with my strimmer, making home-made wine, and doing various craft activities such as spinning, and making felt.
I qualified as a social worker in 1992 and since then have worked as a Local Authority Children and Families social worker. a supervising social worker for a number of independent agencies, and a family finding social worker within the Local Authority. I worked for a period of time for Cafcass as a Children’s Guardian and family court adviser in private law. During my time with Cafcass I trained as a family group conference co-ordinator, and practised this in private law matters.
Most recently I’ve worked for an independent adoption agency as an adoption support social worker/therapeutic worker. During my employment there I had the opportunity to undertake training in various therapeutic approaches, which I hope will further enrich and inform my practice as a supervising social worker. I’m looking forward to meeting and working with you all and sharing approaches and ideas.
