Snapchat location sharing

Foster carers and parents face an increasingly difficult task of keeping young people safe online, especially with young people having access to mobile phone apps that pose a safeguarding risk. Yet another potential danger on the long list of things to look out for is the mobile phone app called Snapchat, and its latest update brings further concern as it allows users who “follow” each other to see each other’s GPS location on a map. Although this offers some good fun and a convenient way for socialites to keep up with one another, it does pose an obvious risk to young people, especially vulnerable young people who may be at risk of bullying or much darker dangers such as child sexual exploitation.
