Staff member profile: Chris Carty
Spring 2018 saw Chris join our South West team as a Supervising Social worker.
“I have worked in Primary Education for over 20 years, teaching children aged from four to eleven and working as a SENCO to meet the needs of each individual child. In recent years I worked as a Year 6 Teacher and completed the NPQH Headship Training in schools across Devon. I was looking for a new challenge in my life and made the decision take a sabbatical from education and undertake a Masters in Social Work. Once I started working as a Student Social Worker I found the job incredibly rewarding and I began to think about where the next step in my career might take me.
I learnt about Regional Foster Families through Plymouth University and was very impressed with their approach to fostering. At the time of writing this, I have been in post for nearly six months and am enjoying every aspect of my role. I thoroughly enjoy working with carers, supporting their needs and working alongside Local Authorities to manage situations and resolve any difficulties.
Away from work, I have been married to Lyn for twenty years and have eighteen year old twins who will probably never leave home! I am a long suffering Torquay United supporter and am constantly dreaming of one day returning to the dizzy heights of the Second Division in the Football League.”
We are really pleased to have Chris in our team.
